It has a settings menu so you can set its display to just about any application you want. You can also select a black background if the temperature is low, with colors to indicate normal operation. For a human, for example, if you set the low temperature to 25, and the high temperature to 35, then the screen stays blank until a human (or animal) is in the field of view. This was exactly what I wanted! Also you can download firmware upgrades and a PC interface package. Really nice! Much better than my previous hand-held imager, at a fraction of the size and weight...
